Sustainability at Enkin
Sustainability at Enkin
Better by Design
At Enkin, sustainability isn't a feature added at the end of the design process. It's built into every decision we make.
Founded on a Better Way
Founded by electricians who believed there had to be a better way, we engineer lighting controls that solve real-world problems while reducing energy consumption, extending product life and making installations simpler and more sustainable.
Before Enkin existed, we spent years renovating homes and working on electrical installations, repeatedly encountering products that wasted energy, required unnecessary rewiring or were designed to be replaced rather than repaired.
We believed engineering could do better.
That philosophy continues to shape every product we develop today.

Engineering First
Good engineering has the power to solve problems.
Every Enkin product begins with a simple question:
Only then do we consider everything else.
This engineering-first approach has led to innovations including ultra-low standby dimming technology, battery-free kinetic controls and intelligent dimmers that maximise compatibility while helping to reduce waste caused by unnecessary product replacement.
Rather than designing products for short life cycles, we engineer solutions that continue performing reliably for years to come.
Designed to Reduce Waste
The most sustainable product is often the one that doesn't need replacing.
Our products are engineered to minimise unnecessary rewiring, improve compatibility with LED lighting and extend the lifespan of electrical installations.
We're also continually exploring ways to reduce our environmental impact through:
- Designing products for longevity and repair where possible
- Reducing standby energy consumption
- Introducing recycled materials into future collections
- Engineering solutions that minimise installation waste
Small improvements in engineering can create significant long-term environmental benefits across thousands of installations.

Supporting British Manufacturing
At Enkin, we believe better engineering leads to better outcomes.
As part of The Soho Electrical Group, which includes Soho Lighting, Enkin, Elesi and Lieber, we share a commitment to creating products that are built to last, reduce waste and help shape a more sustainable future for the electrical industry.
Together, we assemble products in Cornwall and work alongside highly skilled British manufacturers and specialist suppliers, with around 40% of our supplier spend invested in UK businesses.
These partnerships help preserve valuable manufacturing skills while supporting local economies and maintaining the quality our customers expect.
Investing in People
Engineering excellence starts with people.
We're committed to creating a workplace where employees are valued, supported and given opportunities to develop their careers.
Every member of our team is paid above the National Living Wage, and all employees have access to Bupa's Employee Assistance Programme (Key EAP+), providing confidential health and wellbeing support whenever it's needed.

Our Impact So Far
While we know there is always more to do, we're proud of the progress we've made.

Continuous Improvement
Sustainability is never finished.
As engineers, we're continually asking whether there's a better way to design, manufacture and support our products.
Our first Impact & Responsibility Report sets out the progress we've made, the areas where we're still learning and the commitments that will shape our future.
Because better engineering doesn't stop at solving today's problems, it continues to improve tomorrow's.
