Joshua Hammerton, Co-Founder of Enkin, explains how the company’s latest Kinetic lighting controls are redefining wireless switching with smarter functionality, faster installation and greater flexibility for retrofit projects.
At Enkin, we’ve always believed lighting controls should make life easier for electricians, while offering smarter, more flexible solutions for customers. That’s why we’re excited to launch our new range of Kinetic receivers, designed to work with decorative toggles, push button, rocker switches and plastic paddle switches in collaboration with two of the UK’s leading switch and socket companies, The Soho Lighting Company and Lieber.
These new switch modules combine self-powered Kinetic technology with our intelligent lighting control technology and advanced safety features. Until now, wireless Kinetic switches have largely been restricted to basic on/off functionality. We wanted to change that.
Our new modules remove that limitation by supporting a broader range of lighting control solutions, including dimming, smart control, dual-channel switching and double-pole switching.
Designed to make installations quicker, cleaner and more flexible, the switch generates its own energy every time it is pressed, removing the need for batteries or wiring to the switch. It then wirelessly communicates with our new Kinetic receivers, giving electricians a simple solution for both new installations and retrofit projects.
Keeping disruption to a minimum
The benefits for electricians are plenty. There are no chasing walls to run switch cables, no batteries to replace and far less disruption when adding or relocating lighting controls. It’s particularly useful for listed buildings, renovations and properties where rewiring is difficult or simply not practical.
As an electrician, I’ve spent years seeing the same challenges on-site. Running cables isn’t always practical, especially on retrofit projects where time, disruption and cost all add up. We wanted to create something that genuinely makes life easier for electricians while giving customers a smarter way to control their lighting.
By combining Kinetic energy harvesting with our dimming technology, we’ve developed a completely new way of thinking about lighting control.
